There’s this game going around on facebook called “25 Random Things About Me” where you gotta write a note with that subject if you get tagged. I was recently tagged by one of my friends and saw lots of people doing it on their blogs so here’s my list:
I’m a very picky eater. I basically eat bread, meat, potatoes, yogurt, omelets, cereal, peanut butter and cream cheese. No veggies or fruits except apples, which makes dieting really hard.
My favorite food is entrecote steak and my favorite restaurants are all you can eat meat ones.
I lost 25lbs in the last 6 months. I made up my own diet and exercise every day for an hour. My exercise routine includes 40 minutes treadmill and 20 minutes working on muscles.
I never drank tea till I read green tea helps weight loss. I now drink a cup a day but I’m not sure it’s doing anything.
I’m addicted to the TV series 24. I started watching it while working out and it’s the only reason I was able to keep up the habit. Jack Bauer is my hero and I would like to be like him if it wasn’t for all the torturing. Other shows I like: Prison Break, Lost, Heroes, House MD, Big Brother (Israeli version).
I also enjoy watching Family Guy and American Dad. It makes me feel stupid but it’s funny.
I was born in NY and moved to Israel at the age of 4. Since then I’ve been back in NY a lot because my grandparents live there.
I’ve flown a hell of a lot of times for my age. My first flight was from NY to Israel when I was two weeks old, since then I’ve been on a plane over 160 times.
I’ve been to an huge amount of places. A lot of different states in the US: NY, NJ, DC, PA, WA, Utah, Vegas and Alaska!. Around the world: Canada, England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand. I love traveling and I really want to go to South America next.
The place I had the most fun visiting is Australia. The nature there is amazing and there’s lots of cool activities. I went scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef and climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
I’m obsessed with celebrities. I used to really want to be one but now I’m not sure I want to deal with all the paparazzi. I read perezhilton.com and the gossip sections in newspapers once in a while (the tabloids in London are really good).
I can’t do anything without music in the background. I always carry my awesome iPhone 3G and earphones (not the sucky Apple ones) with me. Some of my favorite artists: Kanye West, Beyonce, Akon, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Linkin Park, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, 50 Cent and Black Eyed Peas.
My dream was to be a pop/rock star. Pretty quickly I realized that don’t have the greatest voice in the world. Now my dream is to be a business tycoon (think Richard Branson).
I NEED to have a Ferrari, private jet and private island. I just wont survive much longer without them.
I’m addicted to reading the news. I can go to news sites 30 times a day and buy a newspaper whenever I walk by a store. I’m interested in politics and may become the president of the US one day if I feel like it .
I got kicked out of school last year. In elementary school I was a really good student but I got lazy in high school. I now learn in a much more laid back school so it’s cool.
I started internet marketing in the time I had between schools. Hopefully it’s going to be the best thing that ever happened to me.
It’s really hard for me to write things about myself. I got stuck here and didn’t complete the list till 2 hours later.
My favorite alcohol is Whiskey. I visited a few whisky distilleries on much trip to Scotland. I also like beer, flavored vodka and wine but can’t touch tequila. (Don’t tell the cops)
I’m 5.3 feet and really want to be taller
I like action movies with lots of shooting but I don’t like seeing disgusting things (like in Saw).
One of my biggest challenges is waking up in the morning. I can put the loudest alarm clocks in the world and I’ll just keep lying in bed.
When doing homework or working I used to end up on facebook, now I end up on twitter instead. I can get stuck there for an hour before I realize I didn’t get anything done.
I love skiing. It’s the funnest and most amazing thing in the world (except skydiving). I went once in the US, a few times in Europe and a few times in Israel. Believe it ornot there’s skiing in Israel, but it isn’t any good.
I love going to the mall and just hanging out with friends. Last year the Malha mall in Jerusalem was like my second home.
This last week was one of the best I ever had. My business is starting to come together, I finally have a plan - a good one. I made myself sit down and write out all the actions I’m going to take. I feel like I’m really close to making it happen.
Do you want to know how I did it? I connected with people. I approached people via email, twitter and facebook for help and advice. Almost everyone responded and gave me much more than I asked for. Not only did I get advice, I also got the motivation to start working after being stuck for a few weeks.
One of the only things everyone agrees on in the internet marketing industry is the importance of seminars. After this week I understand why, it’s not so much what you learn from the speakers it’s about the connections you make. Business is all about the people you build relationship with, share advice with, and JV with. I’m sure that attending a seminar is what will really help me reach explosive success.
I was really excited when around a month ago Yanik Silver announced that he’s giving young entrepreneur scholarships to his Underground 5 seminar. I didn’t really think I have a chance but I like to be optimistic. I actually forgot to apply till late at night on the deadline date, I worked from 1am to 3am trying to best express myself. Obviously I didn’t get it, there’s much cooler kids out there .
About a week ago I saw a tweet by Simon Leung about this awesome event he, Lee Collins & Robin Collins are doing in vegas called Rockstar Platinum Live (March 27-29). I was enthusiastic about it before I even read anything about it because of the rockstar theme. My dream was to be a rockstar till I realized that god didn’t bless me with the best voice . Except a cool theme there’s going to be some killer marketers like Deborah Micek, Matt Bacak, Tom Beal, Ross Goldberg and tons more. Since I didn’t make my moolah of cash online yet I tweeted Simon to ask him if he’s going to give scholarships, this was his answer:
The link was to the affiliate sign-up page, affiliates get 50% of the ticket price. I was thinking like “cool, but how do I promote that when I don’t have a big list yet?”. I then remembered how wonderful and helpful all the people in our community are and decided to do something simple: ask for a favor.
I’m not a guru and don’t have some mega huge bonus to give you, I can’t even take you for a drink at a bar (unless you get me a fake id). All I can give you is a link on my blog and permanent placing in my heart. I know that isn’t the best offer, but you will get the warm fuzzy feeling inside for helping a young entrepreneur on his road to his dream
To attend the seminar (ticket & flight from Israel) I need to make 6 sales of full access tickets ($497) or 30 sales of floor seating tickets ($97). The price of a full access ticket is going up to $797 tomorrow (Febuary 20th) at midnight so you might want to hurry.
So what do you say… can you please help me make my dream come true and buy from my affiliate link?
Jason Dinner learned about internet marketing from an infomercial three years ago and since then built a six figure business. He works with some of the biggest names in the industry and his mentor is Mike Filsaime himself. I had the pleasure to talk to him for about 30 minutes and he shared some killer information.

In my old design I had three cool buttons in my sidebar: one for my squeeze page, one for my twitter account and one for my youtube account. I’ve got lots of comments a few emails asking me how I made them so I decided to make a video:
(For the best viewing experience open it on youtube, click “watch in high quality” in the bottom right and expand it to full screen)
You can download a free 30-day trial of photoshop on Adobe’s website. You can also use GIMPshop which is a free open-source program similar to photoshop.
If you have any problems leave a comment and I’ll do my best to help. I’ll also appreciate feedback and suggestions.
You may have noticed that I haven’t been really active lately. That was because I’ve been thinking about all my projects and organizing them. One of the things I’ve been thinking about is how I can provide the best value on this blog. I decided to do 5 posts a week with a permanent schedule:
Sunday > Personal - my personal thoughts and opinions
Monday > How To/Tips - video or text teaching how to do something useful or helpful tips
Tuesday > Interview - audio interview with a successful internet marketer or interesting person
Wednesday > Product Review - unbiased video review of an internet marketing related product
Thursday > Week In Review - everything I’ve been up to in the past week
I’m hoping to keep to the schedule but don’t scream at me if I stray from it sometimes
I also didn’t like the previous design so I decided to do a redesign. I wanted to make this blog really professional and take it to the next level so I went with the best WordPress theme around: Thesis. Thesis is extremely search engine optimized, incredibly flexible and genrally cool. While it’s not free like most themes I feel it’s worth every dollar of the $87 it costs.
Yesterday was Alex Jeffreys bonus coaching session with guest speaker Maria Andros. Maria is the “Video Marketing Queen” and made six figure in her first year of video marketing. She has over 2,000 youtube subscribers and over 5,500 followers on twitter. Here are the main points I learned:
Why use video
It has unbelievable reach, people are leaving TV and watching video online
Build a fanbase of prospects that will love you and want to buy from you
Gain people’s trust, they don’t want to be sold to they want to buy from someone they like
Pre-qualify people withing minutes, if they don’t like you they will just leave
Become a expert in your niche and dominate it, as kids we were taught that if someones is one TV they’re important
It converts up to 600% higher than text (according to Maria)
It video appeals for all senses
Top video tips
Be yourself, you’ll evetually be exposed if your fake
Share stories, people always like stories
Piggyback on other video’s traffic by responding to them
Place relevant keywords in the title and tags
Have a call to action, “subscribe to my channel” for example
Add your blog/website address at the end of your videos
Some great qoutes from Maria
Your mess is your message
Either swim with the sharks or get eaten
Forget the recession – there are PLENTY of $ to go round!
It’s not who YOU know, it’s who knows YOU!
So go sign up on youtube right now, you’ll be really sorry in a few months if you don’t. I’m working on some insane videos, coming soon to my youtube channel…
have a colorful day,
Nadav
P.S. I’m 100% certain that I’m going to win Alex Jeffreys $1500 contest for the most creative video, my idea is that good
Last year is officially over and the new exciting year 2009 began. I hope this coming year will be your best one yet and may you and your family be successful, healthy and happy.
In Hebrew there’s a nice saying: May the curses of the past year end and the blessings of the new year begin.
I created a nice video with animoto showing some cool things I did in 2008:
Animoto is a great site that automatically creates picture slideshows synchronized with music. Creating a 30-sec clip is free, creating longer clips costs $3 per clip or $30 per year for unlimited clips. I found a coupon that gets you $5 off the yearly subscribtion: juybtkod.
Here’s the clip of the famous ball drop in times square (I was there 15 years ago):
Around a week ago I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that you can get really cheap traffic by using image ads in Google AdWords. It said that you have to target at least 1000 keywords, lots of countries and create at least 8 ads.
I decided to try the idea with my squeeze page so I opened a AdWords account and filled it with $55. I then opened up photoshop and made some nice ads like this one:
I added 1500 internet marketing related keywords using Google’s keyword tools and targeted all the countries. I knew that usually you should only target a small amount of specific countries but I decided to anyway go with what I read. I set the maximum bid per click to $0.05 and waited to see what happened. After a few hours I checked my account and saw that no ads were being displayed so I changed the max bid per click to $0.10. I left my computer for a few hours and when I came back…
My inbox had 20 new subscriber notifications from Aweber. I was really excited (I thought I hit the jackpot!) and waited to see some money coming in from the upsell. But I never got an email from paypal, just another 25 emails from Aweber. The $50 I deposited in AdWords finished, I had 45 subscribers and 0 sales.
I started to go over the stats to see what happened. I got a few hundred visitors and had an opt-in conversation rate of around 5%. The reason that I had a sale conversation rate of 0% was the location: 90% of the traffic was from Philippines and other nearby countries. I have nothing against those countries but they’re not known for internet surfers that have their credit cards out and ready to buy.
After that first failure I decided to give it another try before I give up (I must have been high or something ). I added another $30 to my account and changed the target countries to USA, Cananda, England and Australia. Now the ads weren’t showing up again and I had to put the max bid per click all the way up to $0.75 for them to show. I got another 45 visitors, 1 opt-in and no sales.
At the end of the day I ended up with a hole in my pocket and 45 low quality emails on my list.
Conclusions:
1. Untargeted traffic isn’t worth a lot
2. There’s no magic way to get good traffic cheaply and easily (prove me wrong!)
I forgot to take a picture when my Menorah was lit so all I have is one when it’s empty and boring…
